(Must read - Who is Guru / Jagadguru)

अपारकरुणा सिन्धुम् ञानदम् शान्तरूपिणम्
श्रीचन्द्रशेखर गुरुम् प्रणमामि मुदान्वहम्
लोकक्षेम हितार्थाय गुरुभिर् बहुदत् कृतं
स्मरन् तत्वन्दनम् कुर्वन् जन्म साफल्यमाप्नुयात्
 
Apāra karuna sindhum gnānatham shāntha roopinam
Shree Chandrasekhara Gurum pranamāmi mudhānvaham
 

His Holiness is Apara Shankara Swaroopam. He is the rescuer for several 1000s of Bhakthās. Nāsthikās have turned into his disciples by merely having His darshan even from far. Lakhs of people followed his righteous path. Paramāchārya warned those self styled god men not to venture their cheap tricks near Him. When the then Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi had darshan of Paramāchārya, she asked HH to tell her about fake bābās and gurus who in disguise of spirituality cheating the people, and she would accordingly take action. For that HH Paramāchārya replied “the true Bhakthās of the Bhagawān who really want upliftment in spirituality and the path towards enlightenment would soon grasp if they are following a righteous Guru during the course of time”. This is a straight message, rather a polite warning for the people, to know if they are truly gaining any knowledge from the Guru they follow or losing anything unknowingly in the hands of such Gurus.

Many of the present youth have a question, “these days everybody glorify themselves as Jagadguru, in that case, who is actually a Guru and Jagadguru, whom to believe ?”

While this is a little elaborate subject to answer here, I give a simple clue for them to carefully search and cautiously study the history of a person who claims himself as a Guru, whether he is of the highest order belonging to the Guru-Parampara lineage, otherwise, it will be of no avail to the seeker. It is thus advised not to fall prey to those who make you believe and confuse the minds with speeches of twisted logic and self created dry bark siddhānthās (theories). Be aware, there are some places where the truth is buried. What you see there from the sky is a beautiful layer, but covering many atrocious things underneath it. All cannot be Gurus, but they are teachers of different kind who may teach you some subjects of their interest and the choice is open. There is a saying in Upadesha Sahasri, “those who do not follow any sampradāya are equivalent to idiots, for them there are smart learned scholars as Gurus”.

‘Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum’ - once and for all cleared out the Loukika minds. Avatār Purushās strictly consider Sāgarollanghana a taboo as per the Sāstrās and have never physically travelled worldwide but the entire world has come to their feet, right from the Threthā Yuga, Dwāpara Yuga and also now. That’s the cosmic power ! They are only called ‘Jagadgurus’. Even in His 89 years of age during 1990s, He did dharma pāda yātra by foot, at a time when others are flying worldwide in luxury class by air/road. Paramāchārya’s akuntitha deeksha, mouna vrata, apāra jnāna, dharma nishta - brahma nishta and strict religious practices have showered blessings to lakhs of people worldwide. His presence is felt even today and people worship His avatār as “Nadayāde dhaivam”. One should have the fortune and poorva janma sukrutham to have Mahāperiyava as his Guru.

He is our rescuer and Chief Physician to many of us in these pandemic times. We are indebted to HH Mahāperiyava and it is also a way good because, only then our bondage continues with Him without end.
